Haïr are a solo project from France that plays a very raw form of black metal and this is a review of his 2018 demo "œil pour œil, dent pour dent" which was released by Noir Total Productions.
Atmospheric soundscapes and drones start off the album before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the vocals being mostly deep yet grim black metal screams.
Depressive elements can also be heard in the slower sections of the songs while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to the along with the guitar leads being done in a very melodic fashion as well as the riffs also bringing in a decent amount of dark sounding melodies and at times the music also evokes more of an atmospheric feeling, as the album progresses a brief use of dog growls can be heard and a couple of the tracks a re long and epic in length.
Haïr plays a musical style that takes the raw, atmospheric and depressive styles of black metal and mixes them together to create a sound of his own, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in French and cover hate themes.
In my opinion Haïr are a very great sounding raw, atmospheric and depressive black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Extermination" "A Ma Merci" "Vengeance" and "Un Par Un". 8 out of 10.
