Haïr are a solo project from France that was recently featured in this zine and plays a very raw form of black metal and this is a review of his 2018 ep "Repugnance" which was released by Noir Total Productions.
Sounds of war start off the mini album before going into more of a heavy and raw musical direction along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them while the tremolo picking also gives the songs a more raw feeling as well as the vocals being very deep and hateful black metal screams.
Dark sounding melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing along with the guitar leads being done in a very raw yet melodic fashion when they are utilized while the faster sections of the songs also bring in a great amount of blast beats as well as some of the tracks being very long and epic in length and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
On this recording Haïr goes into a even more raw black metal direction than the previous release while the last track still brings in more of a depressive style, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in French and cover hateful themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Haïr and if you are a fan of raw black metal, you should check out this mini album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Colore" and "La Fin". 8 out of 10.
