Ireland's Primordial have returned with a new recording which continues their Celtic folk inspired form of pagan black metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "Exile Amongst Ruins" which will be released on March 30th by Metal Blade Records.
Acoustic guitars start off the album and give the music more of a Celtic folk music feeling and also mixes in with the more heavier and melodic side of the music while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them along with the vocals being rough yet clean at the same time.
Most of the tracks are very long and epic in length while the faster sections of the songs use a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the songs a more raw feeling along with some grim black metal screams as well as the solos and leads being done in a very melodic fashion and as the album progresses clean yet distorted guitars can also be heard on some of the songs.
Primordial creates another recording that remains true to their Celtic folk inspired form of pagan black metal, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Celtic Heritage, History and Struggle themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Primordial and if you are a fan of this band, you should enjoy this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Nail Their Tongues" "Exile Amongst The Ruins" "Stolen Years" and "Last Call". 8 out of 10.
