Wayfarer are a band from Denver, Colorado that plays a very atmospheric and cascadian influenced form of black metal with some touches of folk and Americana music and this is a review of their 2018 album "World's Blood" which will be released on May 25th by profound Lore Records.
Clean yet distorted guitars start off the album along with some drum beats a few seconds alter before going into a heavier direction while the riffs also use a great amount of melody as well as the vocals being mostly black metal screams which also get deep at times and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can b e heard.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the cleaner sections and acoustic guitars also mixing in elements of Americana as well as most of the tracks being very long and epic in length, when tremolo picking is used during the faster sections of the songs it also gives the music more of raw feeling and the music also adds in touches of post metal and clean vocals are added onto the closing song.
Wayfarer plays a musical style that takes an atmospheric form of post black metal and mixes it with Americana to create something very original, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover nature and history themes.
In my opinion Wayfarer are a very great sounding mixture of atmospheric post black metal and Americana and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "On Horseback They Carried Thunder" and "The Dreaming Plain". 8 out of 10.
