Abigail are a band from Japan that has been around for more than 20 years and also have had music before in this zine and plays a very raw and old school mixture of black metal and thrash and this is a review of their 2018 ep "Far East Black Metal Onslaught" which will be released in August by Helldprod Productions.
A very fast and raw sound starts off the ep along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats while the solos and leads are done in a very old school extreme metal style along with the vocals being mostly high pitched black metal screams and the music also mixes in a lot of thrash elements.
A decent amount of melody can also be heard in some of the guitar leads while the music is mostly rooted in the 80's and early 90's along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them and the music sticks to mostly a fast or mid tempo direction as well as always remaining very heavy.
On this recording Abigail remains true to their old school mixture of black metal and thrash, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover War, Death, Alcohol and Satanism themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Abigail and if you are a fan of old school black and thrash metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Unholy Bestial Fire" and "Black Satan Of War". 8 out of 10.
