Bergrizen are a band from Ukraine that has had an album reviewed before in this zine and plays a very epic and atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2018 live album "Einsamkeit im Wintersturm" which will be released on November 25th by Purity Through Fire.
A very fast and raw sound starts off the album along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats while the riffs also use a great amount of melody as well as the vocals being mostly crazy sounding high pitched black metal screams and the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while clean playing, synths and nature sounds are also utilized at times along with most of the tracks being very long and epic in length as well as some songs also adding in a small amount of clean playing and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and at times the vocals add in more of a depressive edge and as the album progresses an instrumental is added onto the recording before returning back to a heavier direction on the following tracks.
On this recording Bergrizen brings in a full line up to take his epic and atmospheric style to the live stage, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Ukrainian and cover darkness and mysticism themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Bergrizen and if you are a fan of epic and atmospheric black metal, you should check out this live album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Der Unsterbliche Geist" and "Entsagen". 8 out of 10.
