Cult Of Self Destruction are a band from Spain that plays a very raw form of black metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "Exitium" which was released as a joint effort by War Productions and Base Record Production.
A spoken word intro starts off the album before going into more of a heavier and depressive direction along with some high pitched black metal screams a few seconds later while the riffs also bring in a decent amount of melody and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard.
When tremolo picking is utilized it gives the music more of a raw feeling while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the solos and leads being done in a very raw and melodic style as well as some growls also being added into certain sections of the recording. keyboards are also added into some parts of the music and as the album progresses a small amount of clean playing can also be heard.
Cult Of Self Destruction plays a style of black metal that is very raw and misanthropic black metal, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover dark, misanthropic and occult themes.
In my opinion Cult Of Destruction are a very great sounding raw and misanthropic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Descending To The Deepest Of The Ayss" "Moon On Saturn" and "Curse Of The Witch". 8 out of 10.
