Nachteule are a solo project from Montreal, Quebec, Canada that plays an atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of his 2018 album "Bergdorf" which will be released in December by Wolfspell Records.
Classical guitar playing starts off the album before going into more of a heavier direction while the tremolo picking gives the music more of a raw feeling along with some elements of shoegaze also being used at times as well as the solos and leads being done in a very melodic style.
Vocals are mostly grim high pitched black metal screams while t he faster sections of the songs also bringing in a great amount of blast beats along with the music also having its atmospheric moments as well as the songs also adding in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and most of the tracks are very long and epic in length, classical guitars also make a return in certain sections of the recording and as the album progresses a brief use of nature sounds and flutes can also be heard.
Nachteule plays a style of black metal that is very atmospheric and epic sounding while having its raw moments, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in French and cover nature themes.
In my opinion Nachteule are a very great sounding atmospheric black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "A grand pas" and "Bergdorf". 8 out of 10.
