Det Eviga Leendet are a band from Sweden that plays a very harsh and atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "Lenience" which will be re-issued in May of 2019 by Armor Fati Productions.
Atmospheric sounding synths start off the album before going into a very fast and melodic direction which also uses a great amount of blast beats. Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the music also having its atmospheric moments.
When tremolo picking is utilized it gives the music more of a raw feeling while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic style as well as all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them.
Some of the tracks are long and epic in length while synths are also added into certain sections of the recording which also gives the music more diversity and at times you can hear some of the more North American black metal style in their sound. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Det Eviga Leendet are a very great sounding harsh and atmospheric black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Ingest" and "Lenience". 8 out of 10.
