Valaraukar are a band from Scotland that plays an occult form of black metal and this is a review of their 2019 album "Demonian Abyssal Visions" which will be released in June by Iron Bonehead Productions.
Atmospheric soundscapes start off the album before going into a heavier musical direction while most of the tracks are very long and epic in length. Vocals bring in a spoken style that still manages the capture the grimness of black metal along with a touch of the first wave style being utilized.
When tremolo picking is utilized it also gives the music more of a raw feeling while the riffs also use a decent amount of dark sounding melodies. Blast beats can also be heard during the faster sections of the songs along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the music also bringing in a good mixture of both old school and modern influences. The production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover inner demons, introspective visualizations and empowerment themes.
In my opinion Valaraukar are a very great sounding occult black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Harnessing Of Hostile Forces" and "Servants Of The Nameless". 8 out of 10.
