Yoth Iria are a band from Greece that plays a very mystical form of occult black metal with some elements of doom metal and this is a review of their ep "Under His Sway" which will be released in 2020 by Repulsive Echo Records.
Dark yet ritualistic soundscapes start off the ep along with some keyboards a few seconds later while the solos and leads are done in a very melodic style. The riffs also add in a decent amount of melody as well as some spoken word parts also being added into the background briefly.
Vocals are mostly black metal screams as well as a small amount of chants also being utilized at times while clean playing can also be heard briefly. Elements of doom metal can also be heard in the slower sections of the songs along with most of the tracks being very long and epic in length.
Female vocals can also be heard briefly along with one track also adding in a brief use of clean playing and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the music more of a raw feeling, the music is also very heavily rooted in the classic Greek black metal style. The production sounds very old school while the lyrics cover Occultism themes.
In my opinion Yoth Iria are a very great sounding mystical occult black metal b and with some touches of doom metal and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Sid-Ed-Djinn". 8 out of 10.
