Muvitium are a duo from Sweden that plays an ancient form of black metal and this is a review of their 2020 album "Evighetens Cirkel" which will be released on January 31st by Purity Through Fire.
Keyboards start off the album and they also mix in with the heavier sections of the music at times while most of the tracks are also very long and epic in length. The riffs also use a decent amount of dark sounding melodies along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in a lot of blast beats.
Vocals are mostly grim yet high pitched black metal screams along with the music also being very heavily rooted in the 90's era. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
Growls can also be heard at times as well as the tremolo picking also giving the songs more of a raw feeling when it is utilized. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style as well as a couple of tracks also introducing clean playing and spoken word parts onto the recording and as the album progresses a brief use of classical guitars can also be heard before closing with an ambient style instrumental. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Swedish and cover magick and mysticism themes.
In my opinion Muvitium are a very great sounding ancient black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Evig vandring till gamla riken" and "I nattsvart dunkel". 8 out of 10.
