This is a review of another recording from Colorado's Outworlder which continues his mixture of depressive post black metal, ambient, darkwave and experimental from his previous release and the album was released in 2019 and called "Droid Spiritual-Revolution" which was released by Nailed Nazarene Industries.
Programmed beats and ambient style synths start off the album which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the music. The songs also have their atmospheric moments along with the vocals being mostly depressive black metal screams while the music also mixes in a great amount of darkwave elements.
A couple of the tracks are also very long and epic in length while the music also mixes in some influences from electronic dance music. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic style and also brings elements of post rock and shoegaze onto the recording, one of the tracks is also an instrumental and as the album progresses a brief use of clean playing can also be heard and all of the music sticks to either a slow or mid tempo musical direction and one song also adds in a small amount of saxophones.
On this recording Outworlder remains true to the mixture of depressive post black metal, ambient, darkwave and experimental that was established on the previous release. The production sounds very dark and heavy while the lyrics cover science fiction themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Outworlder and if you are a fan of depressive post black metal, ambient, darkwave and experimental, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Sentient Void" "Droid Spiritual" "Self Programming" and "Evolution Song". 8 out of 10.
