Druon Antigon are a band from Belgium that plays an existential form of cosmic black metal with some touches of doom metal and electronica glitch and this is a review of their 2020 album "Desontstijging" which will be released in December by Onism Productions.
Nature orientated soundscapes start off the album along with some dark sounding synths a few seconds later which also brings in elements of electronica and glitch while also mixing in with the heavier sections of the music. During the faster sections of the songs a great amount of blast beats can also be heard.
When tremolo picking is utilized it also gives the songs more of a raw feeling while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some influences of doom metal also being added into the slower sections of the songs.
Clean playing can also be heard in some parts of the recording along with the music also having its atmospheric and cosmic moments. All of the tracks are also very long and epic in length as well as some programmed beats also being added into some parts of the songs, spoken word samples can also be heard briefly and also gives the music more of a sci-fi atmosphere and as the album progresses an instrumental is also added onto the recording. all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover existential, metaphysical and scientific themes.
In my opinion Druon Antigon are a very great sounding cosmic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Zinloos" and "Weavess". 8 out of 10.
