Taur-Im-Duinath are a solo project from Italy that plays an atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of his 2020 double album "The Burning Bridges" which will be released on November 21st by Cult Of Parthenope.
A very dark synth and soundscape orientated intro starts off the album before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are mostly angry sounding black metal screams along with all of the musical instruments on the recording also having a very powerful sound to them.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody. Spoken word parts can also be heard in some parts of the recording along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style and synths also returning on some of the later songs.
Some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with the music also having its atmospheric moments. Whispered vocals are also added into some parts of the recording as well as the second half off the album starting off with nature sounds, ritualistic bells, stringed instruments and acoustic guitars before adding in some clean vocals.
The rest of the album goes for more of a folk orientated direction as well as some female vocals also being utilized briefly along with one of the songs also being an instrumental. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics a re written in a mixture of Italian and English and cover nature, introspection and esoteric themes.
In my opinion Taur-Im-Duinath are a very great sounding mixture of atmospheric and neo-folk and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Scrutare l'abisso" and "La chiusura del cerchio" "Clearing Paths" and "Ashes". 8 out of 10.
