France's Otargos have returned with a new recording which continues their mixture of black, death an industrial metal from t heir previous releases and this is a review of their live 2021 album "20 Years Of Human Extermination" which will be released in May by Xenocorp.
An orchestra orientated intro starts off the album before going into a heavier direction while also adding in some live audience reactions. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic direction along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in a decent amount of brutal sounding blast beats.
Vocals are mostly angry sounding black metal screams while the tremolo picking also gives the songs more of a raw feeling. The music also mixes in a great amount of blackened death metal elements along with the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and industrial style beats are also added into the songs as well as the tremolo picking also giving the songs more of a raw feeling when they are utilized. and as the album progresses growls are also added onto the recording.
On this album Otargos takes their industrialized style of blackened death metal and plays it to a live audience to create a very brutal performance> The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Quantum Psychics, Technology and Warhammer40K themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Otargos and if you are a fan of black, death and industrial metal, you should check out this live album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Dominatrix" "The Ruinous Powers" "Fleshless Deathless" and "Remnants Of A Long Dead Star". 8 out of 10.
