The 8th Window are a solo project from Lawrence, Kansas that plays a very aggressive and melodic form of black metal and this is a review of his 2021 ep "Wandering The Wasteland Of the Joyless Existence..." which was released by Atomic Zombie Records.
Dark soundscapes start off the ep along with some guitar sounds before adding in some heavier riffing. All of the drum beats are also programmed while the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style and when the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling.
Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while the music also brings in a great amount of Swedish influences. The songs also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the riffs also adding in a lot of melody as well as one track also introducing clean playing and whispered vocals onto the recording and as the ep progresses a brief use of acoustic guitars can also be heard.
The 8th Window plays a style of black metal that is very aggressive, melodic and traditional sounding. The production sounds very dark and while the lyrics cover darkness and apocalyptic themes.
In my opinion The 8th Window are a very great sounding aggressive and melodic black metal solos project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Me" and "Them". 8 out of 10.
Thank you!🤘🏻🤘🏻
