Drunemeton are a band from Russia that has had music reviewed before in this zine and on this recording plays a dark heathen form of black metal and this is a review of their 2022 album "Age Of Nameless Things And Gods" which will be released by Der Schwarze Tod.
Thunder sounds start off the album before going into more of a heavier and melodic musical direction. When keyboards are utilized they also give the songs more of an epic feeling while also adding in some symphonic touches at times along with the vocals being mostly grim sounding black metal screams.
When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can also be heard while all of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them. Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length.
Spoken word parts can also be heard briefly along with a couple of tracks also introducing clean playing and acoustic guitars onto the recording. A lot of the music also shows an influence of the mid 90's era as well as the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style when the are utilized, when tremolo p8icking is utilized they also give the songs more of a raw feeling and clear vocals are also added on the closing track. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Norse and Celtic Paganism themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Drunemeton and if you are a fan of pagan black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Lord Of The Grove" "Age Of Nameless Things And Gods" and "Spirits Leave The land". 8 out of 10.
