Svar are a solo project from Poland that plays a pagan form of black metal and this is a review of his self released 2022 ep "Under A Sky Full Of Thunder" which will be released in July.
A very dark, heavy and melodic sound starts off the ep while deep growls can also be heard at times and add in touches of death metal. When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats and black metal style tremolo picking are also utilized which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style. Most of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with one song also introducing clean playing onto the recording and the ep also closes with an instrumental.
Svar plays a style of pagan black metal that is very melodic style as well as using more of a death metal vocal approach to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are a concept album and cover the Slavic God Of Thunder Perun and beliefs about lightning.
In my opinion Svar are a very great sounding pagan black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Downfall" and "Sanctified By The Lightning". 8 out of 10.
