Heathen Deity are a band from the United Kingdom that plays a very satanic and anti Christian form of black metal and this is a review of their 2018 ep "Religious Purification Through Fire" which was released by Death Prayer Records.
A very dark and apocalyptic sounding intro starts off the ep while spoken word samples can also be heard briefly before going into more of a heavier and melodic musical direction. Acoustic guitars can also be heard briefly before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also utilizes a great amount of tremolo picking and blast b eats.
Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while the music is also very heavily tooted in the mid 90's era. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style when they are utilized, acoustic guitars return on a later track as well as some synths also being utilized briefly, one of the songs is also an instrumental and they close the ep with two live tracks.
Heathen Deity plays a style of black metal that is very satanic and blasphemous sounding. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Satanism, Anti Religion and Anti Christianity themes.
In my opinion Heathen Deity are a very great sounding satanic and anti Christian black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Flames Of Gathering Darkness" and "Gut The Church". 8 out of 10.
