Feeling Worthless are a band from Mexico that has been featured before in this zine and plays a very depressive form of black metal and this is a review of t heir self released 2022 album "CDVR" which will be released on December 15th.
A very dark yet heavy sound starts off the album along with some spoken word parts a few seconds later. When the music speeds up- a decent amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling and the vocals are mostly high pitched yet depressive sounding black metal screams.
Melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing while all of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic and melancholic style along with a couple of songs song also adding in a brief use of suicide induced samples before returning back to a heavier direction, the songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and a couple of the tracks also add in a small amount of clean playing.
On this recording Feeling Worthless expands on the depressive style of black metal that they have introduced on previous releases. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Spanish and cover solitude, death and suicide themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Feeling Worthless and if you are a fan of depressive black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Autoestima Cero (Act I)" "Difuminante Partir del Ser" and "Mireya". 8 out of 10.
