This is a review of another recording from Ukraine's solo project Këkht Aräkh which shows the music going for more of a raw and atmospheric style of ambient black metal and the album was released in 2019 by Sacred Bones Records and called "Night & Love".
Acoustic guitars start off the album while the synths also bring in elements of ambient when they are utilized and also takes the music into more of an atmospheric direction when they are added into the heavier s3ections of the songs and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can be heard.
When tremolo picking is added into t he faster riffing they also give the music more of a raw feeling while the vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams. Melodies can also be heard at times along with the songs also adding in a decent amount of old school influences and acoustic guitars also return on some of the later tracks.
All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them along with a couple of the tracks also adding in a brief use of spoken word parts and throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as some of the songs being instrumentals, clear vocals can also be heard briefly. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover death, loss, melancholy, love, nature and death themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Këkht Aräkh and if you are a famn of raw and atmospheric ambient black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Elegy For The Memory Of Me" Her Body Strewn With Petals Black" "Down To The Depths Of Inner Cold" and "Forever NightCastle Of Love". 8 out of 10.
