This is a review of another recording from Michigan's solo project Wraithlord which shows him going for more of a forest orientated style of dungeon synth and the album was self released in 2022 and called "Earth And Stone".
Atmospheric sounding drones start off the album along with some ambient style keyboards a few seconds later which also uses a variety of many different sounding keys. Elements of dungeon synth are also utilized quite a bit throughout the recording and most of the tracks are also very long and epic in length.
When bell sounds are utilized they also add in some ritualistic touches while each song also sounds very different from each other. Programmed beats are also added on some of the tracks along with one track also introducing clean guitars onto the album as well as the music also showing some influences of krautrock and the 90's Cold Meat Industry releases. The sounds of wolves howling and nature can be heard briefly and all of the music also sticks to an instrumental direction and one track also adds in some distorted soundscapes.
On this recording Wraithlord expands on the dungeon synth style he introduced on one of his releases and adds in a great amount of progression as well as keeping everything instrumental and the production sounds very dark
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Wraithlord and if you are a fan of dungeon synth, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Earth And Stone (Parts 1, 2 and 3)" and "Fauna". 8 out of 10.
