Wolfpath are a duo from Poland that plays a very raw and old school form of black metal and this is a review of their self titled 2023 ep which will be released on march 31st by ADG Records.
A very dark, heavy and melodic sound starts off the ep while the vocals are mostly grim yet high pitched sounding black metal screams. All of t he musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them along with some clear singing also being utilized briefly and when t he music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can be heard.
When tremolo picking is added into t he faster riffing they also give the songs more of a raw feeling while t he solos and leads bring in more of an old school style. The tracks also add in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the music also adding in some modern influences at times as well as one song also adding in a brief use of spoken word parts, keyboards can also be heard in certain sections of the recording and whispered vocals are also added on one song.
Wolfpath plays a style of black metal that is very heavily rooted in the second wave era of black metal mixed in with some more modern touches. The production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics are written in a mixture of English and Polish and cover dark themes.
In my opinion Wolfpath are a very great sounding raw and old school black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Cursed Moon" and "Wolf". 8 out of 10.
