Vintersea are a band from Oregon that plays a progressive mixture of post black and death metal and this is a review of their 2023 album "Woven Into Ashes" which will b e released in may by M-Theory Audio.
Melodic guitar solos and leads start off the album while the riffs also add in a great amount of melody. Clear singing is also a very huge part of the recording along with the vocals also adding in a good mixture of high pitched black metal screams and death metal growls and the faster sections of t he songs also add in a lot of blast beats.
When tremolo picking is added into the faster riffing they also give the music more of a raw feeling while the songs also add in a lot of post metal elements. Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the music also having its progressive moments.
Some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length while a few songs also introducing clean playing and acoustic guitars onto the album as well as a couple of later tracks also adding in a small amount of synths, folk instruments can also be heard briefly and a small amount of clear male vocals are also added on the closing song. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover emotional themes.
In my opinion Vintersea are a very great sounding progressive mixture of post black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Unveiling Light" "Parallel Decay" and "No Tomorrow". 8 out of 10.
