Amargor are a solo project from Spain that plays a very raw, atmospheric and depressive form of black metal and this is a review of his 2021 album "Decepció. Apatia." which was released as a joint effort between Forgotten Sorcery Productions and Jems Label.
Acoustic guitars start off the album and and also adds in touches of folk music while the album also gets very experimental sounding at times. Harsh noises can also be heard briefly before going into a heavier direction. Elements of doom metal are also added into the slower sections of the songs.
Some of the tracks are also very long and epic in length while the keyboards also add in touches of dungeon synth when they are utilized. Vocals are mostly high pitched yet depressive sounding black metal screams and clear singing can also be heard in certain sections of the recording.
When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling. The album also has its atmospheric moments as well as the tracks also adding in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, spoken word parts can also be heard briefly. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Spanish and cover Depression, Suffering, Catalan History, Patriotism and Anti-Imperialism themes.
In my opinion Amargor are a very great sounding raw, atmospheric, depressive and experimental black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Pres, Sents..." "Trau. Purità Cremant" and "Decepció. Apatia". 8 out of 10.
