Rainer Landfermann is a solo artist from Germany that has had music reviewed before in this zine and on this recording plays a very avant garde and progressive form of depressive black metal and this is a review of his self released 2023 ep "Mehr Licht" which will be released on June 23rd.
Synths start off the ep which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times and also gives the music more of an avant garde edge. Vocals are mostly depressive black metal screams while the music also has its progressive moments along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style when they are utilized, blast beats can also be heard briefly on the second track and both of the songs also sound very different from each other.
On this recording Rainer Landfermann brings in 2 very diverse, avant garde and progressive depressive black metal tracks. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in German and cover pain, darkness and personal feelings.
In my opinion this is another great sounding from Rainer Landfermann and if you are a fan of avant garde, progressive and depressive black metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Mehr Licht". 8 out of 10.
