Manii are a band from Norway that plays a very atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2023 album "Innerst I Mørket" which will be released in September by Terratur Possessions.
Atmospheric sounding keyboards start off the album and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the music at times. The only track that is present on this recording is also over 37 minutes in length while elements of ambient can also be heard at times and the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style.
Vocals are mostly grim yet high pitched sounding black metal screams while the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them along with some chants also being utilized briefly as well as the music also adding in some depressive and melancholic touches at times.
All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them and when the music finally speeds up a small amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the track more of a raw feeling, spoken word parts can also be heard briefly. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Norwegian and cover Death and Darkness themes.
In my opinion Manii are a very great sounding atmospheric black metal band and if you are qa fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. 8 out of 10.
