Cleveland, Ohio's Axioma has returned with a new recording which shows the music going for a mixture of post black, sludge and doom metal and this is a review of their 2023 ep "Primal Descent" which will be released in November by Stained Glass Torments.
A very dark, heavy and melodic sound starts off the ep while you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording. Vocals are mostly angry sounding black metal screams along with the slower sections of the songs also bringing in elements of sludge and doom metal.
When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can be heard while the songs also mix in touches of death metal. Acoustic guitars and clean playing can also be heard briefly along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style. Melodies are also added in some of the guitar riffing and one of the tracks is also very long and epic in length, throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts..
On this recording Axioma goes for a mixture of post black, death, doom and sludge metal to create a very diverse release. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover darkness, apocalypse, nihilism and advanced technology themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Axioma and if you are a fan of post black, death, doom and sludge metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE 'Primal Descent" and "Fellowship of Serpents". 8 out of 10.
