Verilehto are a band from Finland that plays a very melodic and atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2023 album "Kuoleman Slipien Havina" which will be released in November by Inverse Records.
A very dark sounding intro starts off the album while also introducing acoustic guitars onto the recording before going into a heavier direction. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while growls can also be heard at times along with the guitar riffing also adding in a lot of melody.
All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them while the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style. Clean playing can also be heard on some of the tracks along with the music also having its atmospheric moments as well as some of the tracks also being very long and epic in length, synths can also be heard briefly and when the music speeds up a small amount of blast beats are also utilized
Verilehto plays a style of black metal that is very melodic, mid tempo and atmospheric sounding. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Finnish and cover darkness and death themes.
In my opinion Verilehto are a very great sounding atmospheric and melodic black metal band and if u are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Lohduton KylmaPolju" and "Kalmann Seppa". 8 out of 10.
