1. For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?
The band was founded in early 2018 with two members and the end of that year our first ep had come out too. The title was „Burning times” and it was independent release. I don't know how could translate the name of the band, maybe the most adequate equivalent would be „beast of prey”. But the name has dual meaning: this is a word for the animals that are too dangerous for the preys and it also can describe a human’s attitude. So we are the DVVAD (original word is dúvad).
2.Recently you have released your first full length, musically how does it differ from your previous ep and split?
First of all the number of the members have grown from 2 into 5. Than we have more opportunities to create the darker atmosphere with a second guitar and key layers. The differences between MRKLB and the other released from the past is the experiences of making music and recording. And the last but not least we could work in semi-professional circumstances. And finally the full length forms a rounded whole, not like the early materials.
3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band has explored so far with the music?
Personally i love stories with endless circles. I can give you a good example from the world of the movies: David Lynch – Lost Highway. The opinion of mine that this is the best movie ever with surrealist atmosphere: it is about the endless circulation of the damn life. I wanted to show this phenomenon with our music and our lyrics.
4.I know that the bands name comes from Hungarian Mythology, can you tell us a little bit more about your interest in this topic?
No! Its not mythological but i explained the meaning of DVVAD in the answer of the first question. The album’s name MRKLB is related to markoláb: a mythological entity. In some regions of Hungary it’s similar to the northern Fenrir, a feared black wulf who consumes the Sun and the Moon and later it vomits them, and than starts over. In other regions the markoláb is a demon who kidnap children. The first meaning what we’re into.
5.Can you tell us a little bit more about the artwork that is presented on the new album cover?
The cover of the album created by Balázs Pénzes (GrafitHamu). We are very grateful to him for this artwork. The album could be complete with this. This man in the pictures who is suffering in the eternal, endless damnation from the born into the death. But death for him is not the end because he reborns again and again. As the markoláb consumes and vomits the Sun and Moon too.
6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?
Since we are five of us, every show is great. Our most memorable concert, that we can remember, was at a Hungarian underground festival. There were such delays between bands, so we started to play much later, then we supposed to... and in the end of our concert, the first rays of the sun appeared in the dust-blurred horizon, right behind the stage. We were tired as hell, but it was really epic, and made a deep atmosphere. Even so, a lot of people stayed for us.
7.Do you have any touring or show plans for the new album?
Yes. We have show plans, but we don't really know yet how we can take the opportunities.
8.In 2020 you where a part of a split with 'Defiant', what are your thoughts on the other band that had participated on the recording?
We like their music and we are satisfied with the release.
9.On a worldwide level how has the reaction been to your music by fans of black metal?
I mean our music its not typically black metal but as i see the fans of black metal like it. What about the fans of other metal... Maybe the atmosphere can consume their soul J
10. What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the band members are a part of?
I’m a member of the hungarian black metal band Ahriman that was founded when i was 3 years old. This is the band where i met with our keyboardman: Zoli. Peter (bass) is a member of a very popular and catchy glam/symphonic/heavy metal band, called From The Sky. Gergő has a grindcore band and he is member of the Orwell Disznói hardcore-punk band.
11.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?
I have two more album ideas within the Hungarian mythology. These will be definitely done. I don't know yet when and how, but we will do our best.
12. What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
Nowadays i’m listening to lots of Darkspace, Paysage D’hiver, Watain, Vargrav. The influence of music comes from everywhere: music, literature, movies, history, etc.
