Bloody Valkyria/Kingdom In Fire/Northern Silence Productions/2024 Full Length Review

 

  Bloody  Valkyria  are  a  solo  project  from  Finland  that  plays  a  very  epic  and  melodic  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  his  2024  album  "Kingdom  In  Fire"  which  will  be  released  in  September  by  Northern  Silence  Productions.

  

  Dark  soundscapes  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  clean  playing  a  few  seconds  later  while  also  introducing  keyboards  into  the  music  which  also  mixes  in  with  the  heavier  sections  of  the  songs  at  times.  Melodies  are  also  added  into  a  lot  of  the  guitar  riffing  and  a  great  portion  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  

   Vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  angry  sounding  black  metal  screams  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.  Sword  battle  samples  can  also  be  heard  briefly  along  with  one  song  also  adding  in  a  brief  use  of  clear  singing,  when  the  music  speeds  up  a  small  amount  of  blast  beats  can  also  be  heard.

  

   A  couple  of  the  songs  are  also  brief  instrumentals  as  well  as  one  track  also  showing  the  vocals  mixing  in  more  of  a  growling  approach,  When  tremolo  picking  is  added  into  the  faster  riffing  they  also  give  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling,  at  times  the  music  captures  a  very  medieval  fantasy  orientated  atmosphere.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  fantasy  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Bloody  Valkyria  are  a  very  great  sounding  epic  and  melodic  black  metal  solo  project  and  if   you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Flames  Upon  A  Bridge"  and  "Burning  Citadel".  8  out  of  10.
