Czort are a band from Poland that has had music reviewed before in this zine and on this recording plays a very aggressive, modern and melodic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2024 album "Monementy" which will be released in November by Pagan Records.
Clean playing starts off the album before going into more of a heavier and melodic direction while the vocals are mostly angry sounding black metal screams. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them and the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style.
Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while a couple of songs also adds in a small amount of spoken word parts. When the music speeds up a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the album more of a raw feeling and most of the tracks stick to a mid tempo direction, atmospheric sounding synths can also b e heard briefly.
On this recording Czort goes for a very modern, aggressive, atmospheric, melodic and mid tempo form of black metal. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Polish and cover darkness and humanity themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Czort and if you are a fan of aggressive, melodic and mid tempo black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Zjawa" " Zmaganie Rdzeniem Istnienia" and "Ubostwo Idei". 8 out of 10.
