Malkhebre are a band from France that has been featured before in this zine and on this recording goes for a very technical, ritualistic and orthodox form of black metal and this is a review of their 2025 ep "To Those Who Risen" which will be released this summer by BATTLESKY'RS Productions.
A very dark y et heavy sound starts off the ep while you can also hear all of t he musical instruments that are present on the recording. Vocals are done in a very angry yet grim style mixes in with some screams while the music also gets very technical and dissonant sounding in some of the riffing.
A small amount of melody are also added into some of the riffs while the faster sections of the songs also add in a lot of blast beats and tremolo picking which also gives the recording more of a raw feeling. Spoken words can also be heard at times along with both of the tracks also being very long and epic in length.
On this recording Malkhebre goes for a very modern, ritualistic, technical and orthodox form of black metal. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover the poetry of Leonard Cohen, Satanism and Spiritual themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Malkhebre and if you are a fan of orthodox black metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "You Want It Darker". 8 out of 10.
