Veil Lifter are a solo project from Italy that plays a horror themed form of black metal and this is a review if his 2025 ep "Night Grotesqueries" which was released by Kold Cave Production.
A piano orientated intro starts off the ep along with dark soundscapes and field recordings being used briefly before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats and the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style.
A lot of the music is also very heavily rooted in the 90's era while the vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams. Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some horror movie style synths also mixing in with the heavier sections of the songs at times, melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing as well as most of the tracks also being very long and epic in length and all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
Veil Lifter plays a horror themed style of black metal that is very heavily rooted in the 90's era. The production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics cover Horror, Occultism, Death and Darkness themes.
In my opinion Veil Lifter are a very great sounding horror themed black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Votive Candles" and Nocturnal Wrewolf Mysticism". 8/5 out of 10.
