Vastago are a band from Spain that plays a mixture of war and bestial black/death metal and this is a review of their 2025 ep "Hexagnosis" which was released by Elf Eggs.
A very ritualistic sounding intro starts off the ep before going into a very fast, raw and brutal war metal direction which also utilizes a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are mostly bestial growls while the music also adds in a lot of black metal elements.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the music also adds in a lot of old school touches and all of the tracks also avoid the use of any melody, solos or leads.
Vastago plays a musical style that takes war and bestial black/death metal and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Spanish and cover Occultism themes.
In my opinion Vastago are a very great sounding mixture of war and bestial black/death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Gnosis Del Cubo negro". 8 out of 10.
