Norway's Ulver has returned with a new recording which shows the music going for an electronic mixture of synthpop, ambient, idm and post rock and this is a review of their 2025 album "Neverland" which will be released on December 31st by House of Mythology.
Ambient style synths and nature sounds start off the album while the songs also mix in elements of IDM and electronic music. Spoken words are also added on a few tracks along with the recording also adding in a great amount of programmed beats which also gives the songs more of a 90's electronica touch.
Some of the tracks also add in some real drums and percussion while voices are also utilized quite a bit throughout the recording. Female vocals are also added into certain sections of the album along with each song also sounding very different from each other, some of the songs also mix in influences of synthpop and post-rock and both electric and bass guitars are also introduced as the album progress.
On this recording Ulver focuses more on a electronica orientated style of ambient with some elements of post-rock, idm and synthpop. The production sounds very professional while the song themes focus on dreams and supernatural themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Ulver and if you are a fan of their recent material, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Fear In A Handful Of Dust" "People Of The hills" "Pandora's Box" and "Fire In The End". 8 out of 10.
