Azzaya/Ira/Glory Upon Thee/2025 Single Review Review

 

  Portugal's  Azzaya  have  returned  with  a  new  recording  which  shows  the  music  going  for  an  aggressive  mixture  of  black  and  death  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2026  single  "Ira/Glory  Upon  Thee".

  Clean  playing  starts  off  the  single  before  introducing  some  angry  sounding  black  metal  screams  which  also  takes  the  music  into  a  heavier  direction.  All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  while  the  faster  sections  of  the  songs  also  add  in  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats.

  When  tremolo  picking  is  added  into  the  faster  riffing  they  give  the  music  more  of  a  raw  feeling  while  the  riffs  also  add  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody.  Elements  of  death  metal  can  also  be  heard  at  times  along  with  the  tracks  also  adding  in  a  good  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts,  when  guitar  solos  and  leads  are  utilized  they  are  also  done  in  a  very  dark  yet  melodic  style  and  the  second  track  is  a  re-recorded  version  of  an  earlier  song  which  also  adds  in  some  growls  and  female  vocals.

  On  this  recording  Azzaya  focuses  more  on  an  aggressive  black  metal  style  while  also  retaining  some  elements  of  death  metal  from  their  previous  releases.  The  production  sounds  very  professional  while  the  lyrics  cover  Satanism  themes.

  In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Azzaya  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  aggressive  black  and  death  emtasl,  you  should  check  out  this  single.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Ira".  8  out  of  10.
