Battlelust where a band from Sweden that played a very fast, raw and primitive form of black/war metal and this is a review of their 1997 album "Of Battle And Ancient Warcraft" which was released by Hammerheart Records.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with a great amount of brutal sounding blast beats being thrown into the music at times, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars, as for the keyboards when they are utilized they bring a very dark and atmospheric sound to the music without becoming a lead instrument.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black/war metal riffs that are very heavy, raw and primitive sounding with some death and thrash metal influences being thrown into the riffing and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording, as for the acoustic guitars when they are used briefly they use finger picking to add more darkness to the music.
Vocals are all high pitched black metal screams, while the lyrics cover anti Christianity, demons, darkness and violent themes, as for the production it has a very heavy, brutal, raw and primitive sound to it.
In my opinion Battlelust where a very great sounding heavy, raw and primitive sounding black/war metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Armageddon Arrives" "The Sword Of Death" "The Dawn Of The Black Hearts" and "Snow And Ice And Demonmight". RECOMMENDED BUY.
