Graven are a band from Germany that plays a very raw and primitive form of misanthropic black metal and this is a review of their 2002 album "Perished And Forgotten" which was released by Undercover Records.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being thrown into the music at times, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars, as for the synths when they are utilized they bring a dark and atmospheric sound to the music without becoming a lead instrument.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black metal riffs that are very dark, raw and primitive sounding in the 90's tradition, while the lead guitars which are only utilized are very raw and primitive sounding black metal guitar solos and leads
Vocals are all high pitched black metal screams, while the lyrics cover darkness and misanthropic themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it in the traditional black metal tradition.
In my opinion Graven are a very great sounding raw and primitive misanthropic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Of Darkness, Sorrow And Hate" "Nightwinds Lead My Sword" and "Of Misanthropic Spirit". RECOMMENDED BUY.
