Witch In Her Tomb are a 1 man band from Chicago, Illinois that plays a very raw and primitive form of black metal mixed with punk and this is a review of their 2012 ep "Malefic Maleficarum" which was released as a joint effort between Crippled Sounds and Tyr Records.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast playing with a good amount of blast beats being thrown into the music, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with primitive riffing that dominates throughout the recording, as for the synths they are only used on the last song and they bring a dark and atmospheric sound to the music.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast riffs that combine primitive black metal with punk and noise with 3 guitars being utilized as well as some soft and clean playing and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording.
Vocals are all high pitched black metal screams, while the lyrics are written in a concept and cover dark themes, as for the production it has a very dark, heavy, raw and primitive sound with the songs being short.
In my opinion Witch In Her Tomb are a very great sounding hybrid of raw and primitive black metal, noise and punk and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out t his band. RECOMMENDED TRACK "X". RECOMMENDED BUY.
