1. Can you tell us a little bit about the project for those that have never heard of you before?
Dödsfärd is a solo project where i explore different concepts and sub-genres inside the black metal genre.
I write, record and mix everything, and do the artworks.
2. How would you describe your musical sound?
Old-school black metal mixed with small parts of many different genres i listen to, like shoegaze-soundwalls, the feeling and atmosphere of folk music's , and of course quite a lot of synth.
3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the project explores with the music?
It varies from demo to demo. The first is about death and misery, while the second demo explores other themes like anger, violence and spiritualism.
From this point it's hard to say, Demo III is mostly about ghosts and fears, while sleeping trees, dungeons so deep is very influenced by folklore and nature.
4.I have noticed that the musical style has changed with each recording, are you planning in this direction on future releases and if so where do you see the music heading?
Yes, i've always enjoyed exploring concepts, and when i find one i like it often turns out as a new demo. While i doesn't plan my albums very much, i will probably find more interesting subjects to make music about. I's hard to tell where i'm going, but more albums will be released.
5. What is the meaning and inspiration behind the projects name?
Dödsfärd basically means "journey to death), and i guess thats what dödsfärd is trying to do, make you experience something darker than your everyday life, death.
6.Currently there is only 1 member involved with the project, are you open to working with other musicians in the future?
I'm not sure actually, right now i'm comfortable being the only member in dödsfärd, it has been like that for years. I often have a hard time working in bands and stuff, but with Céleste it mostly turns out great, so if someone else ever will play in dödsfärd, it's probably gonna be him.
7.Currently you are unsigned, are you looking for a label or received any interest?
I am releasing some demos on rigorism production pretty soon, but i don't know. I do print tapes at home too, and take orders.
In the future, of course i'm looking for a label, releasing music is fun, especially on a label that already got bands you like released.
8. On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black metal?
Pretty non-existent, i got 40 likes on Facebook and appear in some russian bm-forums when i release something. That is pretty okay though, the few who likes it really does enjoy my music, and that feels great.
9.What is going on with the other musical projects these days?
Alot, i got a project with Monde Céleste from my hometown that just released on paradigms recordings, lovesilkpalemilk, a blend of shoegaze, post-punk and post-black metal.
I have a few other solo projects in different genres like stoner (shitheap.bandcamp.com), lo-fi horror influenced synth (neukoln.bandcamp.com) and Swedish psych/folk (trollet.bandcamp.com); these projects are pretty dead though.
With Céleste, i also jam and play alot, we've put together a small post-punk band trying to get some live shows, i could link you a jam recorded on an old dictaphone from the 70's when i find the tape.
10.What direction do you see your music heading into on future releases?
Anywhere i guess, it depends on what happens in my life, what kind of people i meet and befriend (or dislike), what kind of music i listen too and other things that inspire me.
11.What are some bands or musical styles that have influenced your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?
I listen to alot of stuff like post-punk, shoegaze, stoner, garage rock, swedish hippie-prog, psychedelic rock; old stuff like that and still so much more.
But music that inspired dödsfärd is mostly oldschool black and shoegaze, and some post-rock. I've loved bands like burzum and emperor since i was like 13 years old. I listened too and got inspired by Monde Céleste many months before i got to know him, and he has shown me loads of good music.
One band that especially inspired is Lustre, "Serenety" is amazing
12.Outside of music what are some of your interests?
Almost nothing to be honest, when i don't record i spend time with my girlfriend or discuss/discover/play music with the few people who find it as interesting as i do.
Oh right, i do read alot of philosophy and classic literature, my favorites are Sartre and Nietzsche
13.Any final words or thoughts before we wrap up this interview?
Don't use triggers
