This is a review of a split ep between Netherlands Israthoum and Sweden's Chalice Of Blood with the former's song being called "Ascetic Temples" and the later's "Sacrament Of Death" which was released by Daemon Worship Records and we will start off the split with Israthoum a band that plays a very raw and atmospheric from of occult black metal.
Their song starts out with a very fast and raw 90's style black metal sound along with some grim screams and a decent amount of blast beats and after awhile the song starts bringing in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some atmospheric elements and there is also a brief use of aggressive spoken word parts and clean singing which also makes the song have more of a ritualistic feeling and after awhile the song starts incorporating melody along with some powerful bass guitars and the lyrics cover Left hand path themes while the production has a very dark yet powerful sound.
Next up is Chalice Of Blood with another track that is in the fast, raw and occult black metal direction.
Their song starts out with a very fast, heavy and melodic sound along with some guitar leads and all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them and one the high pitched screams kick in the song starts incorporating more blast beats and fast yet raw tremolo picking on the guitars, the production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover death worship.
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fans of occult black metal. 8 out of 10.
