Apocalyptic where a 1 man project from Russia that played a very fast, diverse, atmospheric and raw form of black metal and this is a review of his 2015 cassette which was released by Narcoleptica Productions.
Nature sounds and horror soundtrack style synths start off the album along with some classical guitars and after the intro the music starts to get a lot more heavy along with some grim black metal screams and the music also brings in a very dark and raw feeling along with blast beats being added into certain sections of the songs.
Synths also make their return in certain sections of the recording and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and you can also hear a touch of thrash in some of the tracks and as the album progresses melodic riffs, solos and leads are brought into the songs which also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Some of the later tracks also bring in a brief use of spoken word parts and classical guitars also make their return on some songs which also bring in a great amount of diversity along with a few instrumentals and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and on some of the tracks the synths also bring in psychedelic elements while the main focus remains more on a raw style of black metal as well as adding in more depressive screams towards the end.
Apocalyptic creates a very diverse black metal band which can be very raw and thrash influenced at times while also getting more experimental as the album progresses, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Apocalyptic where a very sounding diverse and raw black metal project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Shadows And Moon" "Pure hatred To The Life" "Dusk" and "Jezebel". 8 out of 10.
