Heimdallr are a 1 man band from Russia that plays a pagan form of black metal and this is a review of his 2015 demo "Molniya" which was released by Narcoleptica Productions.
A very raw, atmospheric and melodic black metal sound starts off the demo along with some grim screams and you can also hear some elements of pagan metal being mixed in throughout the recording along with a decent amount of synths and the solos and leads also use a great amount of melody while some sections of some songs also use a small amount of clean playing.
Most of the songs stick to a slow to mid paced musical direction while the music does also speed up at times and brings in a small amount of blast beats along with a raw 90's black metal feeling and some of the tracks also bring in a small amount of clean singing along with the synths getting more epic and as the demo progresses spoken word parts can be heard at times.
Heimdallr plays a style of pagan/black metal that is very raw, epic, melodic and atmospheric all at the same time while also being a bit more dark and grim than most pagan metal bands, the production sounds very dark, raw and heavy while the lyrics are written in Russian and cover Norse and Slavic Paganism.
In my opinion Heimdallr are a very great sounding pagan/black metal project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "North Queen" "Valkyrie" and "Flocks Of Proteins Cry". 8 out of 10.
