Deathgod Messiah are a band from Massachusetts that plays a bestial mixture of war, black and death metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "Phallic Flagellation" which was released on cassette by NoVisibleScars.
Church choirs and sounds of torture start off the album and after awhile the music starts going into more of a heavier direction along with some morbid sounding melodies and after awhile grim black metal screams are added onto the recording along with blast beats being added onto the recording with some bestial growls.
A great amount of war metal elements can be heard quite a bit throughout the recording along with the music also being very heavily rooted in the 90's and the tremolo picking also gives the songs a more raw feeling and when guitar leads are utilized they bring in a very chaotic yet melodic style and spoken word samples can also be heard briefly and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Deathgod Messiah plays a musical style that takes the heaviest and rawest style of old school war, black, death and black metal and mixes them together to create an all out assault on Abrahamic faiths, the production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics cover blasphemous and anti religion themes.
In my opinion Deathgod Messiah are a very great sounding bestial mixture of war, black, and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "God Is Dead" and "Blasphemous Suicide". 8 out of 10.
