Well Of Night are a band from Dayton, Ohio that plays a very melodic form of occult black metal and this is a review of their self released 2017 ep "The Crimson Hexagon".
A very heavy and melodic sound starts off the ep along with most of the tracks being very long and epic in length and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard while the vocals are mostly grim yet high pitched black metal screams while the tremolo picking gives the songs a more raw feeling.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic fashion and spoken word parts can also be heard briefly along with the music also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the music also brings in a very modern style of black metal while a touch of doom metal can be heard in some of the slower riffing and acoustic guitars are also added onto the closing song.
Well Of Night plays a style of occult black metal that is very melodic and mixing some Swedish influences while also having its raw moments, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover Occultism themes.
In my opinion Well Of Night are a very great sounding melodic occult black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "The Crimson Hexagon". 8 out of 10.
