Corpsehammer are an international band with members from both Sweden and Chile that plays a primitive mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their 2017 ep "Posession" which was released by Morbid Skull Records.
Distorted amp sounds start off the ep before going into a very fast and raw war metal direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats while the vocals also add in more of a first wave black metal style along with some of the riffing also mixing in a great amount of second w ave influences.
At times the riffing brings in a decent amount of dark sounding melodies along with a lot of death metal elements while the music is mostly rooted in both the 80's and 90's and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the music always remains very heavy and touches of doom metal can be heard in the slower sections of the songs.
Corpsehammer plays a musical style style that takes a raw second wave black metal style and mixes in with some first wave influences as well as some elements of war and old school death metal to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics are written in Spanish and cover death and doom themes.
In my opinion Corpsehammer are a very great sounding primitive mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Beso Inflame" and "Cataclismo". 8 out of 10.
