Bezdan are a band from Serbia that plays a furious and traditional form of black metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "Spirits of The Past" which will be released on march 20th by Wolfspell Records.
A very dark sounding intro starts off the album before going into more of a heavier and melodic direction while the faster sections of the songs also use a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the songs a more raw feeling along with the vocals being mostly grim black metal screams.
Most of the music is very heavily rooted in the 90's era of the genre while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them as well as the solos and leads being done in a very melodic fashion and one track also brings in a brief use of clean playing and they close the album with a cover of Goatmoon's "Eclipsed By Raven Wings".
Bezdan plays a style of black metal that is very raw, furious and traditional sounding in the true old school fashion, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Bezdan are a very great sounding furious and traditional black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Spirits Of The Past" and "Iz-Crnila". 8 out of 10.
