Gyre Of Incandescents are a duo with members from Canada and Finland that plays a very raw, melodic and ritualistic form of black metal and this is a review of t heir self released 2018 album which will be released on March 20th by Wolfspell Records.
A very dark, raw and lo-fi sound starts off the album along with a great amount of tremolo picking while the vocals are mostly grim black metal screams as while as the songs also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and synths are also added into certain sections of the songs.
Clean female vocals are also used quite a bit throughout the recording while the music is very heavily rooted in the early 90's second wave tradition along with some synths also being used at times which also gives the music more of a ritualistic feeling as well as all of the tracks being very long and epic in length and when guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic fashion, clean playing can also be heard and they close the album with a cover of Akitsa's "L'homme Der Fer".
Gyre Of Incandescents plays a style of black metal that is very raw, melodic and ritualistic in the early 90'a tradition, the production sounds very dark, raw and old school while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Gyre Of Incandescents are a very great sounding raw, melodic and ritualistic black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Unseen" and "Final Hours". 8 out of 10.
